How this site earns a little when you shop from our links
Some links here are affiliate links
The Patina Nest is a small editorial site about cottagecore, vintage wall décor, shabby chic, farmhouse pieces and secondhand finds. Keeping it running costs money, so some of the shop links in our posts are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, the retailer may pay us a small commission. The price you pay does not change.
We would rather you know how this works before you click than after. A summary is below, the questions further down go into detail, and our About page explains who is behind the site.

Etsy
Many of the vintage and handmade pieces we feature are sold by Etsy sellers. Some links may be affiliate links. Your purchase is with the seller, under Etsy's terms. [CONFIRM: Etsy affiliate programme joined]
Amazon
Some links lead to Amazon product pages. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Amazon's own terms and returns policy apply to the order. [CONFIRM: Associates account approved]
Chairish
Chairish sells pre-owned furniture and décor, much of it one of a kind. Links may be affiliate links, and a listing can sell at any moment. [CONFIRM: Chairish programme joined]
Display advertising
Separately, we show ads through Google AdSense. They are labelled as ads, we do not select individual ads, and they are not recommendations.
The price stays the same
Any commission comes from the retailer's own revenue. You pay the same price whether or not you use our link.
Choices come first
We feature pieces for their proportion, material, condition and how they suit a room. A commission rate does not decide what gets a mention.
Affiliate links are labelled
Posts containing affiliate links carry a short note near the top, and product boxes are marked. If you spot one we missed, please tell us.
Sponsored content
We do not currently publish paid or sponsored posts. [CONFIRM: still true when you publish] If that changes, they will be labelled as sponsored at the top of the post.
Not sure about a link?
Send us the page address and the link you are wondering about. We will explain how it works, and if we have missed a label, we will fix it.
Check a link yourself
- Look for the note. Posts with affiliate links carry a short line near the top, and product boxes are marked.
- Preview the address. Hover over a link on a computer, or press and hold it on a phone. Ours lead to Etsy, Amazon or Chairish, sometimes through a tracking address.
- Ask us. If a link is not marked and you think it should be, tell us and we will correct it.

Frequently asked questions
Plain answers about links, prices and ads.
Does an affiliate link cost me anything extra?
No. The seller or retailer sets the price, and it is the same whether or not you arrive through one of our links. If a commission is paid, it comes out of the retailer’s own revenue. The only thing an affiliate link changes is who gets credited for sending you.
Do commissions influence what you recommend?
We try to keep the two apart. A post begins with the subject, whether that is how to hang a gallery wall or what to check on an old mirror, and links come afterwards, only where a piece is relevant. A retailer’s commission rate is not a reason to feature something, and we do not link to items we would not suggest to a friend.
A link is also not a claim that we have bought or tested the item. If a post says we have, it will say so plainly.
How can I tell which links are affiliate links?
Posts that include them carry a short note near the top, and product boxes are marked as affiliate links. The links themselves lead to Etsy, Amazon or Chairish, sometimes through a tracking address. If you are unsure about a particular link, email us and we will confirm it.
What if a vintage piece sells out or the price changes?
It happens often, and it is part of how vintage shopping works. Many pieces are one of a kind, and sellers update or remove listings without notice. Prices, condition and availability are set by the seller, and the listing page at the moment you buy is the one that counts.
We do not take orders, ship items or handle returns. Those are between you and the seller or marketplace.
How are the ads different from affiliate links?
Ads are shown through Google AdSense and are labelled as advertisements. We do not select individual ads and we do not endorse the advertisers. Clicks or views may earn us revenue, whereas an affiliate link earns a commission only if a qualifying purchase follows.
Google and its partners may use cookies to show and measure ads. You can read how we handle data in our Privacy Policy. [CONFIRM: check the Privacy Policy address and that it covers AdSense cookies]
